CD Giner de los Ríos is all set to start one of the most exciting seasons in its history, in the Men’s Division of the Honor league.
After the return of Juan Carlos Varea to the Valencian team, the club will strengthen its squad with the arrival of Octavian Thiery.
Belgian midfielder, 21, of Dutch descent. A versatile player who plays as a striker, and also has has established himself in midfield.
Thiery began his career with the stick at the age of 5 at the Linkebeek Hockey Club in his country, reaching his first team.
At the age of 16 he would make the leap at the Wellington Hockey Club, where he began to play in the Junior category (Under-21), obtaining with his team one of the highest levels in Belgium.
Later, at 18, he continued his career abroad, specifically, in one of the most important clubs in Europe; the Kampong from the Netherlands.
He was part of it for half a year and continued the season at Mount Eden of the New Zealand First Division.
After passing through Dutch and New Zealand lands, he returned to the club of his origins, the Linkebeek, with the aim of promoting to the highest Belgian category.
In this way a player comes to Valencia who will bring youth and experience.
Like Giner, he will experience the highest category of Spanish hockey with the illusion under his arm and the effort as a flag.
CD Giner de los Ríos begins its journey in the category on September 19 when it welcome FC Barcelona on the blue field of the Virgen del Carmen-Beteró sports center.
