The Sultan of Johor Cup Hockey Championship (SOJC) scheduled for Oct 3 to 10 at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium here has been postponed to September next year in view of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Johor Hockey Association acting president Datuk Majid Manjit Abdullah said the 10th edition of the championship had been postponed on the advice of Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar of Johor.
Datuk Majid Manjit Abdullah had an audience with the Sultan of Johor today and on his advice, it was decided to postpone the championship because we need to consider the health of the players, coaches and spectators.
The championship has been moved to September next year.
India, Australia, Great Britain and Malaysia have confirmed their participation while Japan and Germany were still adopting a wait-and-see attitude, he added.
