The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has released Rs30,000 each to the 30 players who were part of the training camp of the senior team, and are now following the training programme at their homes.

The 30 players include some junior players as well.

PHF received Rs1.5 million from the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) a few days ago, the first in three years.

A total of Rs.25 million to provide grants-in-aid to the affiliated National Sports Federations (NSFs) during the current fiscal year.

The initiative to provide grant to the national federations has been taken by Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) and President PSB Dr Fehmida Mirza to mitigate the sufferings of sportspersons.

The PSB has advised the NSFs to spend this amount on the training and coaching of sportspersons and refrain from spending the amount on the administrative matters such as office expenses and payment of salaries.

The release of the money to the players is aimed at keeping them motivated, PHF sources said.

The government last week released funds to 16 sports federations, including PHF.
