The FIH Pro League campaigns of Australia’s national men’s and women’s hockey teams continue at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University when they take on Argentina this weekend (6/7 March).
The Hockeyroos will open proceedings on both evenings against an Argentina side that has been notoriously difficult for them to beat in regulation time. Three of the previous five matches between the two sides have ended in draws, with the other two matches split each way.
The last time they met came at last year’s classic FIH Pro League semi-final in Amsterdam, when a 1-1 draw forced a shootout that was won by the Hockeyroos.
Excepting Germany (who have not played any matches yet), the Hockeyroos are the only undefeated team in the Women’s 2020 FIH Pro League, a record they are determined to maintain.
For the Kookaburras, it will be a history-making weekend as co-captain Eddie Ockenden is set to equal and then surpass Jamie Dwyer’s 365-cap record for Australia.
Two weeks after a 4-2 win and 2-2 draw (no shootout bonus point) in India, the Kookaburras will be looking to continue building momentum against Argentina, the reigning Olympic gold medallists.
Australia’s home FIH Pro League matches will be broadcast LIVE on Fox Sports and Kayo. See below for specific broadcast times and channels.
