Dragflick Newsdesk : The International Hockey Federation (FIH), after being approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has published the qualification criteria for the next Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

The next continental championships and two qualifying tournaments, which will distribute six places, will decide the participating teams in the French event.

In addition to France as the host country, 5 teams will ensure their participation that will be the winners of the continental championships of Africa, Oceania, Europe and the Pan American Games in 2023, along with the winner of the Asian Games in 2022.

In the event that France wins next year’s European Championship, the runner-up would not be assured of an Olympic place and would have to play for it in the qualifying tournaments that will take place months before the opening of Paris and will distribute the last 6 tickets for this event .

As announced by the FIH itself, there will also be two pre-Olympic tournaments at the beginning of 2024, with 8 participating teams, and the first three of each will guarantee their place in Paris 2024.

The number of teams per continent in them will be based on the continental quotas decided by the world ranking of January 31, 2023.

The Olympic hockey competition in the French capital will feature the participation, as has been the case since the 2008 Beijing Games, of twelve teams, both in the men’s and women’s categories, with a squad of 16 players
