Lucina von der Heyde, defender of the Argentine women’s field hockey team, opted out from the Argentina’s squad travelling to Lima 2019 Pan American Games , which will be played from Friday 26 in the Peruvian capital.
A key player, 22 years old and belonging to River Plate, stated that the reasons are of “personal nature” to opt out.
Gisele Kañevsky from Mar del Plata, who was a part of the Argentina squad that won the gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Pan American Games in 2007, will replace her.
Meanwhile, the River forward, Priscila Jardel, will enter the squad list as a possible substitute, as well as Goalkeeper Cristina Cosentino.
The full squad now includes Belén Succi, Cristina Cosentino, Valentina Costa Biondi, Silvina D’Elía, Sofía Toccalino, Agostina Alonso, Victoria Sauze, Rosario Luchetti, Micaela Retegui, Eugenia Trinchinetti, Carla Rebecchi, Agustina Albertarrio, Julieta Jankunas, María José Granatto, Victoria Granatto, Gisele Kañevsky and Priscila Jardel.
Las Leonas will begin their campaign in Pool A facing the Uruguay, on Monday 29 July 2019. They will then play against Canada (Wednesday 31) and Cuba (Friday, August 2).
