Jakarta: Indonesia finished in seventh place in the women’s hockey event when they defeated Chinese Taipei 2-0 in the classification play-off at the GBK Hockey Stadium.
It was a major milestone for the Indonesian team who is playing in their first ever Asian Games.

As coach Younus Paribady said it was already a major event when the team was able to play in the tournament.
“And it is a victory for us to be able to finish in seventh place ahead of three other teams. The girls played, and we are pleased with their attitude and commitment.
“The only set back is that we did not have much training time. I can only hope that the team can be kept together and get to play in future tournaments like the SEA Games or Asia Cup,” he said.
The Indonesians are unranked in the FIH ranking list while Chinese Taipei is at number 53. In the group phase, they also had one win when they beat 34 ranked Kazakhstan 2-1.

Yuanita Rahmadani Suwito added the second goal in the 41st-minute from another penalty corner attempt.
The Indonesians had full control and were not threaten at all by the Chinese Taipei team.
This is the second time the Chinese Taipei team is playing in the Asian Games. In 2006 they also finished in eighth place.
