In order to make up for Frank Wijbenga’s departure, the ARBH recruited a quality coach to accompany Niels Thijssen, head coach of the Red Panthers, in his daily work.
This is the Dutch Raoul Ehren. He is one of the most successful coaches in the history of Dutch women’s hockey, having led Den Bosch to eight national titles in the past nine seasons.
He recently extended his contract with Den Bosch for another two years and will join the Belgian team, while at the same time coaching in the Netherlands. Raoul will join an already impressive staff, led by Niels Thijssen and his assistant coach Simon Letchford.
Adam Commens, Head of the High Performance Department explains: “As part of our long-term vision, we are continually striving to improve the quality of the people who work with our national teams. Raoul fits this description, with an outstanding track record as coach of Den Bosch’s ladies team, with eight national titles, and as an international coach-assistant with India recently.
This is an exciting time for Belgian hockey, with high expectations for the future performance of our Red Panthers. We have no doubt that Raoul will help us meet these expectations and we look forward to seeing his contribution to the team . “
