The Spain women’s hockey team are all geared up to make their fifth appearence at the EuroHockey Championship in Belgium.
A competition where the Spain women’s hockey team have savored the semifinals twice, staying close to hanging some of the metals in liza.
As the event begins today, Captain Carlota Petchame said she is determined, prepared and eager to take on field.
While she has been in the national team for many years and this will be her fifth European Championship appearance, she is aware that her team must continue working to remain at the top.
“Our goal is to reach the semifinals, although we know that the group is very complicated. That you have to win that first game and compete against Holland and Belgium and get a positive result from both,” expressed Carlota in an interview with the RFEH.
Asked what are her teams chances against favourites Holland, she said, anything can happen in a match.
“Yes, Holland are clear favourite and a very difficult opponent to win. But you never know. You have to play the game and see what happens. Anything can happen in a match,” Carolata said.
The EuroHockey Championship started in 1970. The winner of the tournament will be awarded a place in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
