Argentina, one of the most powerful and outright favourites of this game, will arrive with its stellar roster to seek gold for both their men and women and also aim to seal their spot for next year’s Olympic Games.
The beautiful hockey stadium built in the sports complex of Villa María del Triunfo will no doubt witness an unprecedented tournament in Lima.
The people of Peru are looking forward to enjoying some of the best hockey in the world from July 29 to August 10.
The Lions
The Argentine lions, Olympic Champions in Rio 2016 and two Pan-American Champions will arrive at the games aiming to continue their winning streak.
Coach Germán Orozco is coming to the games with the same squad that played at the FIH Hockey Pro League.
The Argentine stars that will shine at the  “hockey stadium” of Villa María del Triunfo are Lucas Vila, Matías Paredes and the gunner Agustín Mazzilli, who will be complemented by the young Lucas Toscani and Thomas Habif.
The Lionessess
Unlike the lions, the lionesses are coming to the games with blood in their eye after losing to the United States in the last two Pan-American finals.
The famous lionesses have won two world titles and also took the podium in four consecutive Olympic Games until 2012.
Coach Carlos Retegui who was previously assigned to the Mens team, has resumed his position with the lionesses, with whom he won the world title in 2010 and an Olympic silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics.
Key players to follow are Delfina Merino (elected the best player in the world in 2017), María José Granatto and Lucina von der Heyde (best sub 23 in the world in 2017 and 2018).
