In exactly a month, the China women’s hockey team will be ready to welcome the Belgium women’s hockey team in a two match series in Changzhou, in what is the final chance for the teams to qualify for the Olympics.
For China’s women’s hockey team who have obtained the ticket for the Olympic Qualifier on basis of their ranking points, there is still loads of pressure for the competition.
The Chinese women’s hockey team are the second most successful Asian teams.
The team won silver at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, as well as bronze at the 2002 Hockey World Cup in Perth, Australia.
The team also won the 2002 Hockey Champions Trophy and finished second in 2004 and 2006.
They were also the only Asian team to participate at the inaugural edition of the FIH Pro League 2019.
China are ranked 10th in the world while the Belgium are placed 12th on the FIH world ranking table.
Belgium’s 6th place at the Euro’s resulted in their fall to the 12 th place on the world ranking table, and has resulted in them playing the ‘qualifiers’ outside.
China and Belgium last played at the FIH Pro League 2019 where China finished seventh and Belgium finished fifth.
China will welcome them on October 25 and 26 in Changzhou.
