The Malaysian men’s hockey team failed to book a spot at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after having lost to Great Britain in both matches of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifier play-off in London.
After losing (4-1) to Britain in their match one, they went down fighting (5-2) in match two of the Olympic Qualifier at the Lee Valley Stadium in London.
Malaysia advanced to the qualifier by virtue of its silver-medal performance in June at the FIH Hockey Series Finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Speaking about the performance,Captain Sukri Mutalib said he was disappointed and that Great Britain were clearly a better team.
