Goals from Constantin Staib, Niklas Wellen and Timm Herzbruch helped Germany secure three points against Spain, earning a 3-1 home win to move into the top four.
With four wins, four draws (three with extra points) and three defeats, the HONAMAS are now in sitting in the fourth place in the Pro League table and Olympic champions have pushed Argentina to fifth.
Analysing his teams performance, National Coach said,
“Overall, a deserved, albeit hard-earned victory. In the first half, we showed good structures, made good rhythm changes and created many opportunities.”
In the third quarter we lose a bit of the thread, it gets confusing. But in the final quarter we have again won many infights.”
That was a clear increase in the emotional and mental area. And that makes me happy for the last two very nice finals against Belgium on Wednesday and Australia on Sunday. ”
The race for that all-important top four finish in the FIH Pro League continues with three matches on Wednesday 12 June, with Germany’s women and men taking on Belgium in Krefeld while the Netherlands women entertain New Zealand in s-Hertogenbosch.
