The Vantage Black Sticks Women have fallen 3-0 to a determined and focused Argentina Women’s team. Despite several penalty corners the Black Sticks were kept off the score sheet and Argentina came away with the 3 points.

The Black Sticks Women came up against a strong Argentina side in their final home match for a month. Looking to backup an impressive performance from Friday evening the Women started the match positively creating some chances.

As the quarter wore on Argentina began to put pressure on the Black Sticks Women limiting their out letting opportunities.

With 1 minute to go in the quarter the Argentina side burst through the Black Sticks defence and put a rocket of a shot past Grace O’Hanlon putting Argentina up 1-0 after 1 period.

The 2ndquarter started evenly with both sides constructing opportunities. The Black Sticks were looking to bring the ball out wide and attack through the flanks.

Midway through the second quarter Argentina made a quick break down the field and managed to pass the ball around the goal keeper to make the score 2-0 to Argentina.

The Black Sticks were putting pressure on Argentina at the start of the second half constructing several opportunities. Argentina was repelling every attack thrown at them and keeping their lead intact.

Late in the 3rdquarter the Vantage Black Sticks earned themselves a penalty corner when Olivia Merry found an Argentina foot in the circle. The subsequent penalty corner was saved by the Argentina goalkeeper to keep the score at 2-0.

In the 4thquarter Argentina extended their lead further when Rosario Luchetti found herself open in the circle and deflected in a great pass across the circle to make the score 3-0.

With 11 minutes to go the Vantage Black Sticks earned themselves another penalty corner. The resulting penalty corner was saved by the Argentina goalkeeper.
