Reigning world champions The Netherlands claimed a 2-1 victory over Argentina in their FIH Pro League encounter at Utrecht’s SV Kampong on Thursday evening.
This win has guaranteed them a a first place finish in the league standings of the competition.
This result for Argentina means that they are now guaranteed a second place finish, with Australia securing the third and Germany securing the fourth.
Player of the match Marloes Keetels, said she loves playing against Argentina.
“Against Argentina, they attack then we attack, which is always fun playing but you know how good they are. When they attack they can be very dangerous. We love these games [against Argentina], but they are not easy. We kept pushing, which I think was was the key for us to winning this game.”
With the top four positions in the league phase now finalised, the semi-final fixtures for the FIH Pro League Grand Final – which takes place from 27-30 June at Amsterdam’s Wagener Stadium – have now been confirmed.
Top of the table Netherlands will face fourth-placed Germany, while second-placed Argentina will play third-placed Australia.
