World No. 21 Poland have arrived in Bhubaneswar with the hopes of securing their berth in the next round of qualification for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 as they take part in the FIH Men’s Series Finals Bhubaneswar Odisha 2019 which starts from 6th June 2019 here at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium.
Poland are grouped with India, Russia and Uzbekistan in Pool A, and the competition for the top-spot in the Pool will be tough.
Poland Coach Karol Śnieżek is aiming at least secure the second spot in Pool A’s points table, he said.
“It is important for us to finish in the top-two to progress to the FIH Men’s Olympic Qualifiers 2019. We are in a tough Pool with hosts India being there and it will not be easy.”
Despite Poland losing to South Africa (0: 2) in the practice match ahead of the FIH Hockey Series Finals, Coach Karo said his team needed time to adjust but his optimistic of his teams performance.
“We are getting acclimatised to the conditions here.It is really hot here, and we are trying to adjust, Also, South Africa have already played a match at the stadium. We in the first half needed time to adjust to the pace.We are confident of a good show.” he said.
World No. 21 Poland are scheduled to play Uzbekistan on Thursday, 6th June 2019 at 17.00hrs IST.
