The Malaysian women’s hockey team reasserted their supremacy over the Czech Republican women’s hockey team today in the FIH Series Finals tournament in Banbridge.
In what was the third and final pool game of the tournament, the Malaysian women defeated the Czech Republican women by two goals to nil to claim the series 3-1.
Malaysia scored one goal in the first two quarters while another two in the final quarter.
After a scoreless 28 minutes, Wan Norfaiezah opened the scoreboard for Malaysia. Fazilla Sylvester Silin (47′) and Fatin Shafika Mahd Sukri (54′) scored two quick goals in the final quarter to wrap up a comfortable win for the team.
Adela Lehovcova was the lone scorer for Czech Republic.
With Ireland topping Pool B after beating Singapore 11-0, Malaysia and Czech Republic have made it to the cross-overs while Ireland qualify directly for the semi-finals.
