The Chile womens hockey team beat Uruguay 5-2 in the second cross-over match at the FIH Series Finals in Hiroshima today.
This win has helped Chile to progress to the semi-finals of the tournament.
This was a remarkable win for Chile, who lost to Russia 5-2 in the final pool match.
Uruguay head coach Nicolas Tixe said he was really proud of his players.
“I think we played a good game in general. But well, this is hockey, we have to wake up because tomorrow we have another important game; a tough game against Poland. I am really proud of my players because they gave everything they had.”
Chile team captain Camila Caram said she is pleased with the win.
“I think we were strong mentally, even though we went 1-0 down. We went for more goals. We were a little bit down (after losing against Russia) so we had to get it together today and turn the page over.”
The action continues tomorrow in Hiroshima (Friday 21 June)
