Women’s Black Sticks coach Mark Hager has resigned as coach of the national side to take up a role as head coach of the Great Britain and England women’s teams.
Danny Kerry, who coached the England women’s team to Olympic gold at Rio 2016, switched to coach the men’s team in August.
Hager twice turned down the Great Britain role, most recently after the Commonwealth Games, but he’s finally decided to accept the job.
New Zealand assistant coach Sean Dancer will become acting head coach as the team prepares for the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League which starts against the Netherlands on January 27 in Auckland.
Mark is scheduled to meet up with the Great Britain women’s squad for the first time when they play their opening FIH Pro League games in February, away to New Zealand, Australia and then China.
