Hockey Australia (HA) today thanks all the hard-working volunteers who make our game great across the country as part of the National Volunteer Week (NVW) celebrations.
NVW is an annual event held across the country in the fourth week of May (21-27 May 2018) to say thank you to the six million Australians who volunteer their time for various causes.
HA Chief Executive Matt Favier said: “Volunteers are the lifeblood of our game, giving up their time for the sport they are passionate about and love.
“During our recent National Hockey Week countless volunteers within our hockey community were highlighted and recognised such as Horsham’s Paul Mackereth, Orange’s Val Gregory and Mentone’s Jayde Tamby which was fantastic to see.
“Every club and association from grass roots to elite level needs volunteers, from administrators, umpires, officials to coaches, ball kids and many more. They are the foundation of our sport.
“From everyone at Hockey Australia and speaking on behalf of the entire hockey community, we say thank you.”
