Indian hockey captain Manpreet Singh will make his 250th appearance when he takes to the field in India’s opening game of the FIH Men’s Series Finals against Russia today.
The ace midfielder, made his debut at the Asian Champions Trophy, Ordos in 2011.
He is a two time Olympian having represented India at the London Olympic Games in 2012 and Rio Olympic Games in 2016,
The Mithapur born player since his debut, has represented India in almost all the major tournaments including the Champions Trophy, Asia Cup and FIH Men’s World Cup.
In 2018, Manpreet was awarded the Arjuna award by the Indian President.
Manpreet, who is leading the highest ranked team in the FIH Men’s Series Finals tournament, said the players worked on various aspects of their game ahead of the tournament and are eyeing the Olympics.
“We are ready for the tournament and expect every team to give a good fight as all of us are eyeing the Olympics,” Manpreet said.
