The Vantage Black Sticks take on England in the first Cross-Over match at the Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup.

The winner of the match will progress to take on Argentina in the Quarter Finals while the losing team will be sent home.

This will be the 4th time that these 2 sides have met in the World Cup where England has come out victorious on all 3 previous occasions, but Black Sticks striker Marcus Child is confident they can have their measure.

He says it’s always a good battle but he really thinks they can go forward and if they play well they can take it to them and put some goals in the back of the net.

Englands player to watch is their midfielder Barry Middleton who has amassed an impressive 425 for his country. In the 6 previous matches against the Vantage Black Sticks he has managed to put in 2 goals.

New Zealand’s Hugo Inglis indicated his respect for cross-over play-off opponents England, highlighting a player that the Black Sticks will need to keep under a watchful eye.

“Barry Middleton from the English team is always one to watch,” said Inglis
