National coach Alyson Annan has called Sanne Koolen as replacement for the injured Pien Sanders. Sanders got injured last week during the four-country tournament in Munich and was not recovered in time for participation in the World Cup in London, which takes place from 21 July to 5 August.

Last Thursday in the game against Argentina Sanders collided with an Argentinian player. She had to leave the field by stretcher. A concussion was found from the results of the studies, so Sanders was not recovered in time to participate in the World Cup. How long the recovery period is is not yet clear.

“This is a big disappointment for Pien, who was going to play her first World Cup. An injury never comes out but so short for a big tournament is of course extra annoying. It is important that Pien takes the time for her recovery.

Sanne has been a member of the training group since January 2017 and also came into action during the four-country tournaments in Breda and Munich. I have great confidence in Sanne and in the professionalism of our team to handle this setback well“ said the Head Coach, Alyson Annan:
