The Canadian Women’s team will take on USA in the Semi Final match of the Pan American Games here in Lima, Peru on August 6.

The USA women’s hockey team are World Ranked 13, while the Canadian Women’s hockey team are World Ranked 18.

While USA beat Cuba (9-0) in the quarter-final round to earn their Semi Final berth, the Canadian team led by Kate Wright also beat Mexico (9-0) to make the Semi Final cut.

Moving forward in the tournament with an eye on the Final, Karli Johansen, Canada’s drag-flicker who is among the most experienced players in the squad emphasised that her team will be undaunted against the fierce neighbour rivals and will refuse to give an inch at either end of the turf.

“We are very excited that we made the Semi Finals. We had clear goals before coming. We are well prepared for a good semi-final match against USA today,” expressed the 27-year in a post match interview given to Pan Am hockey.

The Canadian team have scored a total of 24 goals in the tournament.

It is an added advantage that the Canadian team will go into Semi Final match riding on the confidence from the earlier games.

In the pool stage, the Canadian women’s hockey team beat Cuba (10-0), Uruguay (5-0) and lost only one match to the World No. 3 Argentina (0-3).

The Canadian’s look quite upbeat and confident of a good performance against USA.

The USA are a strong unit and to beat them the Canadians will need to be at their best.

The Canada vs USA action will begin at 17:15 hours ( Peruvian time) in Lima, Peru.
