Malaysia Head Coach, Roelant Oltmans, has described Malaysia as one of the best venues to host the 2022/2023 World Cup.
Malaysia has some of the world’s best venues such as the Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium, Daya Taman Hockey Stadium, Johor Bahru or the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Stadium, Ipoh, Perak
“The stadium is always full, especially involving national squad in Johor and Perak,”said Oltmans.
“The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is always attended by some of the major nations in hockey races and it is a testament to Malaysia’s ability to organise the World Cup,” Oltmans said.
Malaysia hosted the 1975 and 2002 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Oltmans has identified some young players to undergo a national squad fitness test, starting March 10.
“They need to show their abilities in the league. I have seen at least two or three games to identify players to be absorbed in the squad,” he said.
