After successfully completing their European Tour Series and playing nine matches, the Malaysian national men’s hockey squad gear up for the “The Ready Steady Tokyo Hockey Test Event” which will run from August 17 to 21 at the Hockey Stadium Oi, Tokyo Japan.
The Olympic test event is held to ensure the location and operating procedures are on track before the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In addition to Malaysia, the event will also see India, a team that ranked fifth in the world, New Zealand, world ranking eight and host Japan which ranks 16th in the world, participate in the event.
After the end of the robin round, the top two teams will advance to the finals while the other two teams will compete for third and fourth place.
The Malaysian Tigers will start the competition on August 17 against India before facing host Japan on August 18 and completing the round robin round on August 20 against New Zealand.
The men’s hockey team departed for Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 1200 noon from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
