The Malaysian Men’s hockey squad have left for a three-week European Tour with 20 players along with Coach Roelant Oltmans.
This trip will enable the players and staff to simulate major aspects for the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers.
The squad under Head Coach Roelant Oltmans has been focusing on several key areas of performance in the camp during last one month and the aspects requiring fine tuning will be identified.
Speaking about the tour, Roelant Oltmans, Head Coach, Malaysia Mens team Chief Coach stated,
“Playing against the European teams will a good experience for our players and the Tour will help us to rectify and work on various loopholes. The tour is also our preparation for the playoff matches (October and November) to qualify for the Olympic Games,” said the Dutchman.
Coach Roelant also stated that players who are not selected for the Europe Tour will play in a four-nation tournament in Tokyo (August) and also the five-match playing tour of South Korea (September).
Malaysia will also play in a four-nation event against hosts Spain, Ireland and England.
