🇲🇾 Malaysia Hockey : Malaysian Tigers lose their second UK tour match against Surbiton Hockey Club

The second meeting of the 2021 United Kingdom Tour Series saw the National Men’s Senior Squad lose 1-2 to Surbiton H.C in an action that took place at Surbiton Hockey Club.

The lone goal of the national team was scored by Muhammad Najib Abu Hassan through a field goal in the 47th minute while the opposing team’s goal, Surbiton H.C was scored in the 22nd and 26th minutes also through a field goal.

Despite the scoreline, country’s senior player, Muhammad Razie Abd Rahim explained that he and his teammates will analyze their actions to identify mistakes that need to be corrected ahead of the two more matches against the club before against Ireland, Wales and France.

“For today’s match, although we lost but there are positive things that we got compared to the first match, including we have corrected mistakes in the previous match.

“For today’s result, we will make a re -analysis to identify what mistakes caused us to lose and it will also be used as a preparation for the third and fourth matches against the club team.

“Besides that, we also need to correct individual mistakes and reduce those mistakes,” said Razie Rahim.

Meanwhile, the Head Coach of the National Senior Men’s Squad, A Arulselvaraj praised the performance of the national goalkeeper, Muhammad Hafizuddin Othman who performed well in the second match besides seeing that there are still some mistakes that need to be corrected by his men.

“We played under very bad weather conditions, namely heavy rain, however the performance of the players from the 25 to 25 area was very good and interesting, especially in terms of ball movement and ball control even though we lost 1-2.

“What needs to be improved is the position and performance in the opponent’s area to attack and our own area to defend as well as need to be more agile to win the ball.

“Praise should be given to our goalkeeper, Hafizuddin who played brilliantly and comfortably in today’s match,” explained Arulselvaraj.

The national squad will go down for the third match against the club team, Hampstead & Westminister H.C tomorrow (September 30) at 2.30 am Malaysian time.
