Fernanda Oviedo, women’s team field hockey player from the State of Mexico is ready to participate for the second time in the Pan American Games, this time in Lima, Peru.
The Mexican hockey player who debuted in 2013 at the Pan American Cup, told The DragFlick that she is very proud to once again be a part of the Mexican team that will represent the country in the continental fair.
“Its an honour to play my second Pan American Game. As a team, the main objective is to try and play well and help the team have an outstanding finish,” said the 23 year old.
The Mexican women’s hockey team are World ranked 30.
Fernanda said that the tournament will not be easy, since in the group stage they will face two tough opponents such as the World No. 13 United States and World No. 15 Chile but the teams preparation has been arduous and aimed at overcoming this stage.
In the group stage, the Mexico women’s hockey team are placed in Pool B and will begin their campaign on July 29 against USA, before meeting host Peru on July 31 and will finally face off Chile on August 2.
As a part of their preparation for the Pan American Games 2019, the Mexican women’s hockey team participated in the FIH Series Finals Tournament in Hiroshima, Japan earlier in June. Mexico finished seventh in that tournament.
