Ace drag-flicker Tristan Algera was one of the notable absentees in the selection of the Dutch national team, in preparation for this year’s FIH Pro League.
For Algera himself, his absence was already known well before the announcement of the selection.
‘I had already indicated before the World Cup that I doubted whether I wanted to continue with the Dutch team,’ he recalls.
‘In addition, Max also wanted to push some younger players and give them the chance.’ he said.
In the coming period, Algera will therefore focus 100% on his club Rotterdam.
The Dutch team will open their FIH Pro Hockey League campaign against New Zealand on 27 January and against Australia on 2 February.
