The Australian women’s hockey team beat New Zealand 3-2 on Day Two of the Oceania Cup 2019 in Rockhampton, thanks to Renee Taylor’s late 60th minute strike.
The Hockeyroos had lost the previous match on Day One to the Black Sticks women, so this victory proved to be real sweet.
M.Fitzpatrick 6’, Peris 43’, R.Taylor 60’ scored for Australia while Merry 15’, Gunson 47’ scored for the Black Sticks.

Hockeyroos Co-Captain Jodie Kenny said she was proud of how the girls played.
“It was an excellent win,” said Kenny in a post match interview
“Obviously the first game was disappointing but we had lots of fire in the belly and I’m just so proud of the girls. It was an amazing team performance so we’re happy to get the win.”
“We knew it was going to be a really tough battle and were going to have to fight to the last minute so it was a great performance.”
