The New Zealand women’s hockey team gave a good showing of themselves and beat Australia (3-1) in the opening match of the Oceania Cup 2019 in Rockampton, Australia.
Hull 20’, Robinson 42’, Michelsen 43’ scored for Blacksticks while Lawton 54’ was the lone scorer for Australia.
“We didn’t play as well as we would have liked. It probably took us until the second half to get going and free ourselves up to play our game, so we’re going to have to learn from that pretty quickly and turn it around on Saturday,” said Hockeyroos Coach Paul Gaudoin.
