The Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) is considering measures to strengthen declining Pakistan hockey.

As a first step, it participated in the meeting of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and got a feedback from the stakeholders to formulate a strategy to revive hockey and PHF.

Pakistan’s performance in 12th Hockey World Cup last month remained unsatisfactory and it returned home without winning a single match.

Jamil Ahmad, secretary Inter provincial Coordination (IPC) said that “Hockey is Pakistan’s national game and as such requires special handling,”

Ehsan Mani, called on all sports bodies to tighten up their system in order to get the required finances to run the bodies on their own and in an effective way.

Ehsan,  is a Pakistani chartered accountant who is the former president of International Cricket Council and current Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board. He heads the task force of sports.

Mani said there was a need to inculcate sports culture in Pakistan.

“Nowhere in the world are sports run through government money. Federations have to look to generate their own funds,” he said.

Besides Hockey, 13 other federation that are also under forensic audits are: Athletic Federation of Pakistan (AFP), Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association, Pakistan Federation Baseball, Pakistan Judo Federation, Pakistan Kabaddi Federation, Pakistan Squash Federation, Pakistan Sailing Federation, Ski Federation of Pakistan, Pakistan Tennis Federation, Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, Pakistan Volleyball Federation, Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, Pakistan Volleyball Federation and Pakistan Wrestling Federation.
