According to sources, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) have paid their first instalment of the fine imposed on them by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for withdrawing from the FIH Pro League tournament, that was held earlier in the year.
The last date to pay the first instalment was August 19 and by virtue of this development, the Pakistan hockey team will be allowed to participate in future international tournaments including the Olympic Qualifying matches.
Ofcourse, Pakistan Hockey Federation has yet to make two more instalments of the fine in September and November, respectively to the FIH.
“The (FIH) will inform us about the schedule of Olympics qualifying matches; whom we will play against,” PHF secretary Olympian Asif Bajwa said.
The draw for the final 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers will be made in September and the Olympic Qualifying matches are expected to be held in October/November.
