The Polish Hockey team have confirmed their participation in the 28th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, to be hosted by Malaysia in Ipoh.
This comes as a big relief for the organisers and hockey fans, ever since South Africa withdrew their participation from the tournament due to financial problems.
The confirmation was announced by the Management Secretary, S. Selvakumaran in Ipoh, briefly.
“Poland has confirmed to compete in the tournament. We have six teams now, including Malaysia, India, South Korea, Canada and Japan, ” he said.
The tournament to be held at the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Stadium, Ipoh, Perak, is scheduled from March 23 to 30.
The 28th edition of the tournament is an important warm-up tournament ahead of the FIH Final Hockey Series in Kuala Lumpur which runs from April 26-May 4.
The FIH Final Hockey Series winner and runner-up 2019 will qualify for the 2020 Olympics Qualification.
