With three more rounds remaining in the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) Premier Division, Sunday’s match between KL Hockey Club (KLHC) and Universiti KL (UniKL) is expected to be a close affair as they together with two other teams are in the running for the title.
Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) lead with 15 points, one more than second-place KLHC, followed by Tenaga Nastional Berhad (13) and UniKL (12).
“It is going to be a tough and close match. They (UniKL) have good players and are tight in defence,” said KLHC coach Lim Chiow Chuan
“Their never-say-die attitude is admirable as evident in recent matches.
“There are three matches left in the league and our target is to retain our title. We need to focus on every match. We cannot afford to drop points.
However, KLHC will need to reshuffle as they will be without national player Izad Hakimi Jamaluddin who is nursing a knee injury.
UniKL coach A. Arul Selvaraj said : “KLHC are strong but we also have a solid team this year to give them a run for their money.
“We need to be mentally strong from the first minute, and also be cautious whenever they attack,” said Arul.
