The TNB Malaysia Junior Hockey League (TNB MJHL) 2021 which was previously scheduled to take place on 26 November 2021 to 2 January 2022 has been moved to 11 December to 30 December 2021 and will be held around Kuala Lumpur.

The matter was announced personally by the Chairman of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) Competition Committee, Dato ‘Sri Dr. Anil Jeet Singh, in a press conference held today at the MHC Office, Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium.

After taking into account several constraints including weather factors as well as constraints from the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), the MHC Competition Committee agreed to organize the TNB MJHL 2021 Championship on a new date that has been announced which is also the school holiday season.

“This date change had to be done after taking into account the weather conditions, as well as the constraints experienced by the teams competing to get relief from the MOE because on November 22, the new school session opened.

“So the date of the previous tournament is not suitable for the school session that has just started. The school holidays will start on December 10th and we decided to host the tournament starting on December 11th.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the MOE for providing full assistance to us to organize the TNB MJHL 2021 Championship.

“We also understand that school principals may be reluctant to let their players out to participate in the tournament because the school session has just begun.

“We do not want any party to be burdened with this situation so we decided to move the date and organize it during the school holiday season.

“The organization of TNB MJHL 2021 will not only focus on one venue, namely the Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium, but will also use other venues so that the tournament schedule is not too crowded at one venue.

“I also hope the tournament goes smoothly according to plan,” explained Dato ‘Sri Dr. Anil Jeet Singh, who will ensure that KHM gives full support to the competing teams in maintaining the safety and health of officers as well as players involved in the TNB MJHL 2021 Championship from the Covid-19 outbreak.

MHC has previously announced where the TNB MJHL 2021 Championship will be held for the men’s category only with 25 teams having previously confirmed their participation and the organization for the women’s category is still in the planning and will be announced later.
