University Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) registered their first Malaysian Hockey League Premier Division win by thrashing Maybank 6-0 at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Sunday. UniKL suffered a 3-2 defeat to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) last week while Maybank lost 2-1 to TNB Thunderbolts.
Faridzul Afiq Mohd scored the opening goal in the 19th minute, followed by strikes by Jeroen Dolf Hertzberger (30th and 60th), Izwan Firdaus Ahmad Tajuddin (51st), Joel Samuel Van Huizen (54th) and Glenn Stewarts Turner (57th).

“I am happy with the way we played in the second half. The opening half was rather slow but we overcame it with better team work in the later stages,” said UniKL coach A. Arul Selvaraj.
In another match, TNB beat KL Hockey Club (KLHC) 4-2 at the same venue.
TNB scored through Syed Mohamad Syafiq Syed Cholan (fifth minute), Akhimullah Anuar Esook (10th), Firhan Ashaari (18th) and Shahril Saabah (48th) while South Korean Jang Jong Hyun replied for KLHC in the 51st and 59th minutes.
“We need to bounce back from this defeat,” said KLHC coach Lim Chiow Chuan.
TNB coach Nor Saiful said: “We played an aggressive game and scored three goals in the opening 18 minutes.This is a great win. It shows my players are gaining confidence and can play against any team.
