After leading the University of Pennsylvania field hockey to a pair of victories last week, senior defender Gracyn Banks was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday as announced by the league office.
Banks had a big week for the Quakers in victories over Drexel and Villanova. In a 5-3 win against the Dragons, she registered her first career multi-goal game with two tallies. Her second of the day versus Drexel proved to be the game-winner.
Banks capped the week by anchoring a backline that shutout Villanova. She played the full 60 minutes as Penn surrendered just four total shots.
She picked up weekly accolades from the Ivy League for the first time in her career.
Penn returns to action on this Friday, September 17, with a home tilt with No. 17 Saint Joseph’s.
