USA Field Hockey is pleased to welcome Carey Fetting-Smith, who will be a panel speaker on the “Growing Field Hockey in America” session at the USA Field Hockey Summit, presented by AstroTurf.

Moderated by keynote speaker Jon Solomon, panelists will also include two-time Olympian and FHLife Club Owner Keli Smith Puzo, US Lacrosse Technical Director for Athlete Development TJ Buchanan, USA Field Hockey Vice-Chair and Miami University Assistant Coach Chip Rogers and USA Field Hockey’s National Development Director Sally Goggin.

Summit will be held March 15-17 at the Lord Baltimore Hotel in Baltimore and will welcome administrators, coaches, umpires and sponsors for a weekend of education, networking, collaboration and fun.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Fetting-Smith graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature.

As a member of the UNC Field Hockey Team, she was a two-time captain and part of the team that won the ACC Championship her senior year. After graduation, Fetting-Smith joined Teach For America, New York where she worked for six years and earned her master’s degree in education from Pace University.

During her time in New York, she also served as assistant coach at Columbia University from 2008-10. In 2010, Fetting-Smith founded the middle school field hockey team at Success Academy, Harlem 1 where she also led a USA Field Hockey FUNdamentals Program with her 5th and 6th grade students.

Fetting-Smith and her family moved back to Baltimore in 2015, where she is a middle school academic coach at Hampstead Hill Academy.

When she’s not at Hampstead Hill you can catch her channeling all the Division I-athlete skills learned from Coach Karen Shelton as she faces her greatest challenge to date, raising her daughters Margaret and Francie, ages 3 and 5!
