USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce Alexis Gray, club co-director of Southern Maryland Eliminators, will be a panel speaker for the “Athlete Attraction and Retention” at the 2019 USA Field Hockey Summit, presented by AstroTurf.

Summit will be held March 15-17 at the Lord Baltimore Hotel in Baltimore and will welcome administrators, coaches, umpires and sponsors for a weekend of education, networking, collaboration and fun.

Gray has been passionately involved with field hockey for over 25 years. She completed her collegiate career playing at Washington College and coached at the high school level right out of college for seven years.

After coaching high school, she began umpiring at the high school level and coaching the Southern Maryland (SOMD) Eliminators Field Hockey Club U-14 team. She is in her eighth year for both.

Gray is now in her second year as the co-director for the SOMD Eliminators and she completed her Level 2 coaching certification at the 2018 Summit. She is very passionate about growing the game of field hockey.

Since taking over the SOMD Eliminators with co-director, Beth Woodburn, they have grown the program from approximately 30 members to now close to 100, which now includes U-10 and U-12 programs.

With the help of her Eliminators’ coaches, she established the first recreational field hockey program in St. Mary’s County, Md. this past fall with the participation of more than 165 kids. She is always looking for ways to establish more playing opportunities in southern Maryland.
