USA Field Hockey and International Hockey Federation (FIH) umpire Maggie Giddens will be leading the “Positioning Concepts for Umpires” topic at the 2019 USA Field Hockey Summit, presented by AstroTurf.

Summit will be held March 15-17 at the Lord Baltimore Hotel in Baltimore and will welcome administrators, coaches, umpires and sponsors for a weekend of education, networking, collaboration and fun.

Giddens is a FIH Pro League Panel Umpire and FIH Indoor Umpire with many years of experience as both an umpire and athlete. In 2019, she was selected to officiate in the inaugural FIH Pro League on top of her extensive umpire resume.

Last year she officiated at both the women’s Indoor Hockey World Cup in Germany and outdoor at the Vitality Hockey Women’s World Cup in London, in addition to the South American Games in Bolivia.

Giddens received the prestigious ‘Golden Whistle’ in 2018, an award for umpires who have officiated in their 100th international match.

Giddens played collegiately at Michigan State University (‘06) where she competed in two NCAA Final Fours and an NCAA Elite Eight.

She was part of the team that won two Big-Ten Regular Season Titles and two Big-Ten Tournament Championships.In addition to frequent umpiring, Giddens is also a personal trainer at Equinox in Columbus Circle, New York City.

She is happily married and lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. and enjoys traveling, umpiring, cooking with her husband and practicing yoga.
