USA Field Hockey : Men’s squad announced for FIH Hockey Series Finals 2019

USA Field Hockey’s National Development Director Sally Goggin, Sport Development Manager Jenna Ortega and Senior Manager of Coach Education Liz Tchou will speak at several sessions at the 2019 USA Field Hockey Summit, presented by AstroTurf.

Summit will be held March 15-17 at the Lord Baltimore Hotel in Baltimore and will welcome administrators, coaches, umpires and sponsors for a weekend of education, networking, collaboration and fun.

Goggin will help lead the “Introducing the USA Field Hockey American Development Model,” in addition to “Growing Field Hockey in America.” Goggin has been USA Field Hockey’s National Development Director since January 2016 and is responsible for overseeing the Grow the Game program and initiatives.

Prior to joining USA Field Hockey, she helped bring field hockey to Glenbard West High School and Glen Ellyn, Ill. She has been a business owner and in client service at Leo Burnett Advertising Agency.

Goggin is a graduate of Dartmouth College where she served as captain of the field hockey team, was an Ivy League Champion and earned First-Team All-Ivy Honors. She is passionate about increasing sports opportunities for all ages and is instrumental in the creation and implementation of the USA Field Hockey American Development Model and its associated programs and resources.

Ortega will be leading the “Introduction to Walking Hockey” session. She joined the organization in 2017 and is passionate about field hockey and growing the game, having played both field hockey and lacrosse at Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) in Delaware, Ohio.

Ortega’s sports experience includes three years as OWU’s NCAA Student-Athlete Representative and two years as the varsity head coach of a new high school program in Naperville, Ill.

Ortega has been a club field hockey coach for several years and participated as a coach in her first National Indoor Tournament in 2017.

 In her current role, Ortega oversees the FUNdamental Field Hockey Equipment Grant Program, Physical Education Programs, School Starter Packages and the new American Development Model introductory program offerings.

She enjoys sharing her love of the game as a member of the USA Field Hockey Family.

Tchou is the Senior Manager of Coach Education and Learning. She has been with USA Field Hockey since 2012, serving in Sport Development prior to her current role.

She has a long list of accomplishments in the sport including being an Atlanta 1996 Olympian, 1986 NCAA Division I National Champion (Iowa) and having competed in two Pan American Games, a World Cup and Champions Trophy.

She coached at the NCAA Division I level for sixteen years, at Duke and Rutgers University.

In her current role, Tchou provides tools and resources for all levels of field hockey coaches in the country to provide more opportunities for coaches to learn and grow within the profession.

She is honored to be part of the organization that provided her with opportunities to represent our country throughout her field hockey playing career.

Tchou also enjoys working with the Sport Development team on the launch of the American Development Model and the Grow the Game mission, providing ways to increase development opportunities offered to coaches, umpires and players alike.
