Adrian Lock will continue to lead the Spanish women’s senior team. A contract that will last until 2024.

Lock, who since he took charge in early 2013, has returned the Spanish team to the highest international level, becoming a block capable of competing face to face with any rival.

This is corroborated by the historic bronze medal obtained in the last World Championship held in London.

They would also do it later with a similar metal, which was hung in the 2019 Antwerp European Championship, thus returning the Spanish to a continental podium 16 years later.

Similarly, after being absent from the 2012 event, in this period it has been possible to return to the last two editions of the Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo, respectively.

Both competitions closed with the conquest of the Olympic Diploma and where in
the last of them, only the luck of the shoot outs prevented their passage to the
fight for the medals.

The victories in the World League Round 2 2017 and in the Hockey Series 2019, complete an almost immaculate trajectory for a group that already has in mind the next Women’s World Championship to be held next year in Terrassa.

“I am very excited to continue with this project. Despite the years that have passed, we have made many changes to the team. The work of staff and I think players who have created a very narrow group in sports and mainly in the human, which we believe is very important in high performance “, commented the British coach.

“I think we can continue to grow and thus be able to reach Paris 2024 at the best time. In the short term, the Terrassa 2022 World Cup is very exciting. The difference between the national teams is minimal, so we have seen it in Tokyo. For this we want to continue with the regularity of all the working groups that We consider it essential to achieve the objectives that we set ourselves ”, concluded Lock himself.

For his part, Santiago Deó; President of the Royal Spanish Hockey Federation , believes that

“This renewal confirms the line of continuity that we want there to be in the women’s team. A team, in which Adrian, with his great work done, has implemented working methods with an extensive group of players that has brought great success to Spanish hockey and has returned it to maximum competitiveness in each match or competition played. Therefore, with the great cast of players, also coming from the lower categories, we believe that this trajectory can continue in the same way in the years to come, having a first big date next July with the Terrassa World Championship ”.
